**Reminder: tomorrow (Monday, Nov. 27) you will have an on-demand rhetorical essay in class. This is a required assignment. Everyone will be graded on their work habits: arriving on time, working diligently throughout the period and applying the skills of the year so far. If you receive a 6 or higher on the essay, it will also benefit your writing grade.
Intro: For our next unit, we will be reading memoirs in book clubs and doing some non-fiction reading and research on the topics, authors, and themes that emerge in our reading.
Task: Research the memoirs below. Then, choose 3-4 that you are interested in reading. As you research them, think about which might go together for you. You will be reading more than one book. If you have another memoir you are interested in reading, you are welcome to read it under a couple of conditions: 1.) You acquire yourself. 2.) You convince your group to read it and acquire copies for themselves as well. By Monday at 2:45 pm, send me a message on remind letting me know three memoirs you are interested in reading during this unit.
Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates
The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brian
Fun Home by Alison Bechdel
Decoded by Jay-Z (I only have four copies)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter Thompson
Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham
Citizen by Claudia Rankine
