September 11, Homework and Prompts for Reading Response

CLASSES, 12CD and all Juniors: Tonight, read to page 41 and write a 200-250 word response (one page double spaced if typed or about two notebook pages if hand-written) about the characters and setting in the first 41 pages of Laramie Project. Your response should answer one of the following questions and include direct evidence from the text. I have included prompts that may help you below.

1. So far, how is Moises Kaufman (the playwright) using setting to reveal the characters in the play?

2. Compare and contrast two characters' attitudes about Laramie.

2. What is the significance of the setting so far? (You may want to consider the functions of setting presented in the video: setting as a representation of an idea or concept, setting that contrasts or enhances a character's mental state, setting that establishes a mood or atmosphere, setting as a source of conflict, or setting that drives the plot forward.)

3. What is suggested through the use of repetition in the play?
