Come in tomorrow with any texts you are using for your English/History exhibition.
-AP Language -
Required:
Prepare for tomorrow's partner "on demand" in which you will draft an essay together. You may want to communicate via google doc to collect evidence and refine your thesis statements. You can use the materials I introduced today: Click Here
Preview of weekend homework:
1.) You will read this article What google learned from its quest to build a perfect team and write a blog post on its relevance to our class and our recent discussions on gender.
2.) You will come up with a list of issues you're interested in researching to develop your own synthesis question and text set.
Extra credit reading completion and comprehension:
Capture the conversation by playing the "believing game" that Graff describes in They Say, I Say" with the set of articles we discussed in class today. What do two of the writers claim are the issues facing girls and young women today? Choose two authors from the readings and precisely summarize and compare/contrast their arguments. Make sure to use precise rhetorical verbs and frame the quotations. Using the summary templates (both summary and quotations) from They Say, I Say will help you.
Tip: Make sure to compare and contrast the arguments and do not repeat each other (this makes getting it done early a good idea). Each article makes a unique argument about the issues facing boys and young men today. Let's wait until Friday to agree, disagree, or qualify the author's argument.
Requirements:
- Is fully developed; it’s the equivalent of one notebook page in length (200-300 words)
- Clearly states the writer's arguments
- Includes a minimum of two pieces of evidence from the text
- Is developed logically and coherently
- Uses varied sentence structure (questions/short sentences that pack a punch/effective and varied punctuation and word choice etc) and a conversational tone to engage the audience of your peers
- Contains few errors in spelling, grammar, and conventions
