1. By Tuesday, read to page 125 of Carrie and answer the questions in link in your notebook:  Click Here . I recommend reading 75-100 before Monday and the next 25 tomorrow during class.

If you already have another book you would like to use, that is fine. Please bring the book to class by next Wednesday.

Seniors - Complete your writing about the first 75 pages of Carrie tonight. Students who complete the assignment will participate in Film Fest Friday viewing of Carrie in class tomorrow. Use the resources below as well as the resources on the website as you write your paragraphs:

-Clear and concrete examples with valid explanations
-Counterclaim
-Conclusion

*TIPS
Remember that you are writing for an audience. The point is not for you to "think out" your ideas but to make them clear to a reader. Write it with someone you want to impress in mind. This is your opportunity to use ethos, pathos, logos to appeal to your audience. Homework, Wednesday, April 13

-Seniors-

Read to page 75 in Carrie. As you read, choose a couple of things that interest you to track:
          -Bystander behavior and examples of people who speak or act out of the norm
          -Colors: red, white, black and blue
          -Patterns of imagery or behavior
          -Conformity

We will have a quiz and writing day tomorrow. Students who are on track will attend FILM FEST FRIDAY!

Homework, Wednesday, April 12

- Seniors -

Read Carrie to the middle of p.58.
To keep track of the shifting perspectives and time:
Ask yourself with each shift: Who is speaking now? How do I know? Keep track of the different perspectives in your notes
*Please be aware that their are some racist characters in this section of the novel. We will discuss this racism tomorrow in class.

-AP Language-
1. If necessary, revise your argument thesis. If you are struggling try the TP3R formula: Topic, position, and three reasons.
2. Unless you turned it in today, write an outline with your thesis, reasons, and at least one strong example for each reason. Keep class content in mind when thinking of examples.

1, Read to p. 43 of Carrie. As you read, consider how King portrays the social norms of the community in which Carrie lives. Mark or jot passages that make the social norms clear.

2. Write: how does King reflect or challenge the stereotypes/assumptions/social norms that we discussed in class today? Click Here

1. If you did not complete the blog post introduction last Thursday, make sure to do so tonight.
2.Write one body paragraph of the argument essay. Remember that you can use historical, literary, current events, anecdotal, or personal evidence.
3. Bring both the introduction and the body paragraph to class tomorrow. Make sure you have a copy in class.
4. Complete the packet I left with the sub on Friday.

-Seniors-
Complete the outline with one body paragraph if you didn't in class. Make sure to use the resources online to help you with topic sentences, sentence stems for analysis, and transitions.

-AP Language -

Write an introductory paragraph to one of the argument prompts distributed in class today. In your introduction, include DEFINITION(S) to establish ethos and significance using the TS/IS prompts and PEEPS (Psychological, Ethical (Moral), Economic, Practical, and Social) implications. POST YOUR INTRO ON THE CLASS BLOG BY 10:00 pm. Requirements can be found there. 

I am going to be out tomorrow. You will have a rhetorical analysis assignment tomorrow that is due at the end of the period. You may use your notes.

Reminder: You are required to attend one Saturday session before the AP exam. There is one in Brooklyn this Saturday and another in Manhattan on April 23. Please register below.
