1. Read chapter 4 of They Say, I Say. You will have a quiz tomorrow. On the quiz you will be expected to know:
-the three most common ways of responding to others' ideas
-Graff's argument for why these forms contribute to an argument's clarity
-How to use TS, IS in literary interpretation
-the "duh" move
-the "twist it" move
-Graff's response regarding ambivalent arguments
2. Complete exercise 1 at the end of the chapter. Be sure to write down the title of the essay you read as well as the places where the writer agrees with others, disagrees, or both.
3. If you were not able to read the entire Barbara Ehrenreich essay, read it here: Serving in Florida and revise or update your post if necessary.
