12A: Continue to collect evidence for one of the categories you made in your small groups on Thursday.
12B and 12CD Have you ever wished that someone would just start your paper for you? You know that you could do a great job once you go the foundation down. Well, here's your chance: Use the presentations below to inform yourself and prepare for your on-demand on Monday on "The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas." Be aware that none of these are perfect, and can all be improved upon. You may choose to write about the claim you researched in class on Thursday or Friday, or choose a different claim.
Task: Come in on Monday with a claim, topic sentences, and evidence. Then, during the period, you will draft the paper.
AP Language:
Head on over to the class blog (link at the right and in the AP tab) for this weekend's blog post assignment.
*Quick feedback: many of you missed an important part of the prompt on Friday's essay. I have highlighted it below.
The prompt says, "Read the sources...Then choose an issue related to the tension between individuality and conformity. You might choose an issue such as dress codes, mandatory classes, or the structure of the school day. You do not have to choose an issue that you have experienced personally. Then, write an essay in which you use this issue to argue the extent to which schools should support individuality or conformity. Synthesize the sources for support."
In other words, you needed an EXAMPLE.
