Homework: write about/create a representation of how the different texts help you answer one of the EQ’s of the unit and reflect on why that question is significant in life or the world.


Review instructions for assignment: 

-Choose one of the essential questions to discuss with a partner today. Write it down in your notebook.

a. Why are we repelled by and drawn to the unknown?

b.What do our worst nightmares reveal about us?

c. What do authors and filmmakers do to create suspense, fear, and disgust?

d. Are horror stories bad for people? Do they make us insensitive/perverse/violent or do they help us cope?

Some things to capture in your notes:

-Text Title

-Observations and ideas about settings and how characters respond to them

-Symbolic meanings of events, people, and settings

-Connections across texts

-Moments that have an effect: disgust, surprise, delight, wonder, fear

-Ideas about how gender, race, power, and sexuality are represented in the texts

-A synthesis paragraph about how the texts help you answer the EQ
