Do the Right Thing
Announcement: If you do not have a copy of the play, you can access it here at anytime: Streetcar

Homework
In A Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams portrays a range of characters whose behaviors and traits are rewarded, punished, or go unnoticed by the other characters in the play.

Task:  Read Scene Four of A Streetcar Named Desire and write a commentary by midnight tonight. Why? You need your sleep and I would like to use them for discussion tomorrow morning.

You may post on a topic of your choosing or address the following criteria. The requirement is that it is about 150-200 words and includes at least two specific references to the text:

Criteria
1. A character's behavior and traits in a specific scene.
2. How he or she subscribes to or defies his/her traditional gender role.
3. A consideration of how that behavior is rewarded, punished or goes unnoticed by other characters in the play.
4. A link to the larger world or the portrayal's significance.

SENIORS POST HERE: Senior Posts (Type it on your own, proofread it and then copy and paste it to the shared document)

JUNIORS POST HERE: Junior Posts (Type it on your own, proofread it and then copy and paste it to the shared document)

TIP: To receive full credit, make sure to include at least two pieces of evidence and to respond to other people's posts, rather than repeating information.

AP Language and Composition

1. Read chapter VII of Frederick Douglass in preparation for tomorrow's timed essay. The excerpt will likely be from chapters V-VII. Use the bingo board distributed in class today as a study tool to identify rhetorical strategies throughout the text.  The essay will be open note, so make sure you have the diction and syntax handout and any other materials that may help you in class tomorrow.
