Announcement and Homework, Thursday, September 10

Announcement! The fall semester MOTH Story Slam workshop will begin on Wednesday, September 30. It involves you, telling a true story from your life. We will meet four times after school on Wednesdays with storytelling experts before the slam. You must be available for all meetings. There will be snacks. I will post the sign up sheet on Friday. First come, first served with a waiting list.

12A, 12B, 12CD: Write a one to two page notebook response on the following prompt:

“The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.”

1. Paraphrase the quote. What is Campbell suggesting? 

2. Agree, disagree or qualify the assertion and provide evidence from your experiences or literature to support your argument.

3. Go to bed early, turn off your devices. Peace.

AP Language - Finish reading pgs. 1-4 of The Language of Composition. Take detailed notes and complete the first exercise (You can find photos of the assigned pages here: Link to class handouts. Be ready to share your examples of rhetoric that is manipulative/deceptive vs. effective/civil. You can hold on to your examples by writing them down, taking photos of them, or drawing them in your notebook. If you did not turn in your signed agreement about the course guidelines today, please do so tomorrow.
