AP Language

*Announcement! Your classmates took advantage of the rhetorical situation and got everyone an extension until Monday for your final paper deadline. We will not be working on the papers in class tomorrow, but you will have time to work on them during exhibition advisory.

For REVISION
Use the checklist for revision below to improve your body paragraphs. Revise at least one of them tonight. For the final grade, I will check the claim, organization/transitions and THREE body paragraphs. Remember that final drafts must be printed and turned in along with the first draft. All of the handouts from Monday can be found here: Resources . Other resources, such as transition word banks and organizational handouts can be found under "Resources for Close Reading and Analytical Writing" tab.

Checklist for Revising Paragraphs

-Does each paragraph include a topic sentence that states (or clearly implies) the main idea of the paragraph? -Does every sentence in the paragraph align with with the paragraph’s main idea? Eliminate those that do not relate. Consider using them elsewhere, but only if they are necessary. -Check the detailed support (evidence) in each paragraph. Is it sufficient for proving the topic sentence? Is it effective? What kinds of details or support are missing.-Does your analysis clearly explain the substance and details of your evidence? What other kinds of analysis might be more effective? If you are not sure, consult class resources to help you. -What effective  transitions are used to connect sentences?-What general words and phrases can you make more specific?
