1. If you did not get full credit for last night's homework, revise/do/ exercise ONE at the end of Ch. 1. This should consist of one paragraph in which you summarize something you believe in strongly AND another paragraph in which you assert the opposite belief. In other words, A LIE! Your goal is to trick your reader because your summarize of each side is so good. Please be sure to read the instructions at the end of the chapter as well as this post. This should take you about 20 minutes.
Here is Gabe's strong example:
Nuclear energy is essential to the growth of humanity. We live in an age where power consumption has skyrocketed and the old ways we have goten energy places a great strain on the environment. Nuclear energy's death to energy produced ratio is quite small even though it is surprising and the toxic by products can be contained unlike coal which hurts miners lungs and releases toxic gases. Nuclear energy by products can also be used as nuclear fuel with the right kind of reacts which allows humanity to have more energy. Nuclear plants that we have now are quite outdated but their are better models with less risk that can save lives and the environment.
Why we need to get rid of nuclear energy
Nuclear energy is a danger to humanity. Nuclear power plants makes getting nuclear weapons easy because the resources are readily available. There are tons of dangers that are foreseen such as radiation posing, cancer, a core meltdown and other such catastrophe and a lot that are unforeseen. Solar energy can also be used insted of nuclear energy and it will not have any unforseen isues that will destroy the surrounding area. We also need to take into account the malpractice that may occur which will further endanger the area so no we can not have nuclear energy.
2. Modification of exercise two at the end of ch. 2: Read David Z's article, "Don't Blame the Eater." Then, write a summary of it using the templates from p. 38 and 39 to make your summary thorough (about 6 sentences). Use multiple SIGNAL verbs and be sure to include the central points of the beginning, middle, and end of the article.
