2. Read Ch. 16-17. Tomorrow we will have a graded discussion with a quick reading check to enter the discussion. Consider the following questions to prepare:
- Flight includes many examples of Zits interacting with father figures and considering the effect that other men have had on his life. Why do you think relationships between men are at the center of this novel? Find at least two pieces of evidence to support your thinking.
- When thinking about causes and effects, we consider the personality of the person who acted, their situation and the INSTRUMENTS they use. What instruments or means does Zits' father use? What is his "evil" act? How does Alexie explain it?
- At what point should we hold an individual accountable for their actions? What are the benefits and consequences or recognizing that people sometimes act out aggressively when they are traumatized?
