Homework, Monday, February 29

-Seniors -

1. Add two more lines to your Othello map from the brief speech excerpted below. Based on his speech, what kind of person is he? Use specific, short lines to explain your interpretation.
 OTHELLO
    Let him do his spite.
My services which I have done the signiory
Shall out-tongue his complaints. 'Tis yet to know—
Which, when I know that boasting is an honor,
I shall promulgate. I fetch my life and being
From men of royal siege, and my demerits
May speak unbonneted to as proud a fortune
As this that I have reached. For know, Iago,
But that I love the gentle Desdemona,
I would not my unhousèd free condition
Put into circumscription and confine
For the sea’s worth. But look, what lights come yond?

2. Classes 12A and 12CD: In Act 1, Scene 2, Iago swears “by Janus.” Janus is a Roman god with two faces. Give examples of Iago’s two-faced behavior in the play thus far (you can summarize and do not need to use quotations.) You may want to look at No Fear Shakespeare: http://nfs.sparknotes.com/othello

3. What actor, or type of actor, would you choose to play the role of Othello? Find and print an image of your “ideal” Othello or draw a sketch of the man you envision in your notebook.

AP Language

Announcement! At 11:35 tomorrow, you are excused to get lunch from 11:35-12:05. You are welcome to eat in my room. Everyone needs to be in my room at 12:10 pm.

1. If you haven't yet, make sure to bring your field trip permission slip tomorrow for our trip to the Whitney. Link available here: Click

2.  Read the following quote. Do you agree or disagree? Why? You will come back to it for your blog post tomorrow.

“I don't want to live in a society that does these sort of things ... I do not want to live in a world where everything I do and say is recorded. That is not something I am willing to support or live under.”
3. If you do not know who Edward Snowden is, do a little background research in preparation for our field trip tomorrow. The artist was one of the journalists who broke his story. Here's a good place to start:  http://www.biography.com/people/edward-snowden-21262897#aftermath

4. Tonight is also a good night to get caught up on any missing work: blog posts, revision of rhetorical analysis paragraph on midterm etc. Some of you have zeros that can still be made up for up to 70%.
