EQ’: Why do contemporary writers remix old myths?
“The Agony of Intimacy”
Intro: Writers convey their ideas through various techniques and elements, such as allusion and characterization. Tonight and tomorrow, you will consider how Winterson’s characterization of two important characters in “The Agony of Intimacy” contribute to the stories overarching themes.
Homework: Collect at least five pieces of evidence for EACH character that reveal their unique and complex traits. Do not choose BIG CHUNKS of text. Instead, pull bite-size quotes that are particularly important. Analyze two quotes about each character.
