Homework, Monday 9/8

Do the Right Thing -- Finish the short story (Juniors, "The Veldt" by Ray Bradbury/ Seniors, "Escape from Spiderhead" by George Saunders) for graded discussion tomorrow. Make sure to keep the prompt for the PBAT in mind in order to focus discussion. You should plan on bringing ideas that you want to develop for your in-class paper on Wednesday.

*Seniors- You will receive a writing grade for the PBAT based on your ability to craft a clear claim, use marker verbs, and construct an analytic paragraph. You may use resources from my website, under "essay resources" or Ms. McGinnis's. If you copy needed information (marker verb charts, paragraph checklists etc, you will receive work habits credit for doing so. I will check notebooks for these resources on Wednesday while you are writing.)

PBAT Prompt: In their novels and short stories, Ray Bradbury, George Saunders and M.T. Anderson have offered critiques of the harmful effects technology can have on the lives of individuals. Write an essay in which you compare and contrast the way MT Anderson and Ray Bradbury (or George Saunders) convey their criticisms of technology through such literary elements as characterization, setting, and conflict.

AP Language -- Complete the close0reading assignment for "Reality is Broken"
