-Seniors -
Finish the short story "Escape from Spiderhead," annotating as you read for:
-Character/disposition
-Situation and setting: what does it bring out in the characters?
-Systemic influences: What is responsible for the situation and actions of the characters in the story?

Tomorrow, you will have a short comprehension quiz. In order to prepare, know the events of the story: what happens and in what sequence? What are the characters names and what does each of them do throughout the story?

If you were absent today or don't have your copy of the story, you can find it in the "texts and links" page of this blog.

- AP Language -

Tonight watch the debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. As you watch, consider how each candidate appeals to ethos, pathos, and logos throughout the debate. Which answers are most persuasive and why? We haven't gone over logos yet, so do some preliminary research on your own and consult this cheat sheet: Click Here.

You can watch the debates online here: http://www.cbsnews.com/live/?ftag=CNMdaef904 and on other news sites, including the New York Times.

To get full credit for this assignment, you will need to either:

1.) Send three comments during the debate via remind messaging.
OR
2.) Prepare a response with three comments (paraphrase with some quotation) from the debate and analysis of how the comments appeal to ethos, logos, or pathos. You may also focus on the absence of ethos or logos, explaining how a particular comment contributes to a lack of credibility or logic.

If you are absent for the college trip and/or have missed class because of soccer, you need complete:
1. SOAPS analysis of George Bush's 9/11 Speech: SOAPS Analysis,
2. Read and take notes on p. 5-21 of The Language of Composition and complete the exercises on p. 20-21: Ethos/Logos/Pathos Reading
