Perfume -- Ch. 20, 21, 22/ Consider how the end of this section of the book symbolizes the end of a phase of Grenouille's life. How has he developed since the beginning of the novel?

A. Write a response that addresses whether or not Grenouille is a monster. Make sure to define what monstrous means in this context. You can look up "monster" in the dictionary to begin.
B. Write a response that explores the symbolism, the setting or the characterization (or any combination of the three) in the novel so far. How do these techniques work to convey a specific theme (Gothic or otherwise)?
