Do the Right Thing -- Weekend Homework: Choose one of the stories we read this year (Flight, "Escape from Spiderhead," "Until Gwen," Feed, "The Lottery," or "The Veldt") and re-read it with the questions of the new unit in mind.
AP Language -
1. Read "Is this Even Real" by Lena Dunham. As you read, clearly annotate how she uses contrasts (in sentence structure, in abstract vs. concrete nouns, in the description of characters throughout the story) to a humorous effect. You may also note examples of parallelism, anaphora, rhetorical questions and imagery. How does the final image help convey the theme of the essay?
There will be a quiz on the essay tomorrow. I suggest reading it once to enjoy it and get the meaning, and again to annotate and analyze.
2. Complete the multiple choice packet.
