1. Complete your processing page

2. Then, synthesize in a paragraph: what does this comparison reveal about each story's social critique? In other words, what behaviors, beliefs or ideas does this story reveal to be problematic or "horrific?"

3. Bring in your permission slip for Get Out + 10.00 or a note for financial aid. You can view and print a permission slip at this link:  permission slip

-AP Language- 

1. Choose one of the motifs from Drown to specialize in. In other words, choose a motif to focus in on and write about as you read the rest of the collection of stories. Remember, the motifs are:
-Masks
-Violence, Injury, and Illness
-Machismo
-Fantasy and Dreams


2. Use this resource to do some research into the U.S. invasion of the Dominican Republic in 1965.


3. Read "Aguantando" and "Drown" (the story that has the same title as the book) and collect four quotes from each story related to your choice of motif. Choose four of those quotes to analyze.
