Review: Today we reviewed the skills we have used to read horror so far, including:
1. Noticing and analyzing how authors create settings and situations that are familiar and then disrupt that sense of familiarity throughout horror stories
2. Noticing and analyzing how authors develop conflicts caused by external forces alongside more interpersonal or psychological conflicts
3. Noticing and analyzing elements that the gothic embraces and rejects
4. Noticing and analyzing vivid imagery that develops the themes and ideas of the story (12A and 12CD)
Homework: Finish the story you started in class, using the post-it notes you made to identify and analyze parts of the text that correspond to those skills. You should have at least nine annotations in your story. (Don't hesitate to annotate for everything else you know how to do as well, like character, symbolism etc.)
If you were not in class today, you can find the stories here:
